The Hitman’s Bodyguard is aiming to win the weekend box office, and the film is on track to hit a bulls-eye. Get the details, and check out the estimates for all of the Top 10 movies below!
The Hitman’s Bodyguard stars Samuel L. Jackson as the hitman and Ryan Reynolds as the bodyguard. When the assassin needs protection as he testifies against a dictator, Reynolds’ security agent ends up taking the job. Amid mixed reviews, the action comedy is out-pacing all of this weekend’s other offerings. And with a debut gross of just $21 million, it should open in first place.
Last week’s chart-topper, the horror flick Annabelle: Creation, is down roughly 56 percent. Taking in a projected $15.3 million for its second frame, it will slip from the top spot to the number two position. And then there’s Logan Lucky. With a strong director (Steven Soderbergh), strong ensemble cast (Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Katie Holmes, Daniel Craig, Hillary Swank and more notable names) and strong reviews, the heist film has been compared to Ocean’s Eleven. But, disappointingly, it won’t be bringing in that kind of money. Its opening total is expected to be a weak $7.7 million for third place.
Meanwhile, some moviegoers are still going to see Dunkirk, which should rake in around $7.1 million to nab fourth place. With ticket sales of approximately $5.9 million, The Nut Job 2 probably has a lock on the number five spot. Ranking sixth may be The Emoji Movie, provided its receipts add up to $4.7 million. But very close behind, with a potential haul of $4.5 million, is Spider-Man: Homecoming. Possibly rounding out the Top 10 are Girls Trip ($3.8 million), The Dark Tower ($3.6 million) and Wind River ($3.2 million). All figures are currently estimates. Gossip Cop will have updates.
