They just won’t let Beetlejuice die. Warner Bros. has been trying to get Beetlejuice 2 off the ground almost since the original hit theaters, with the project going through any number of different iterations over the last nearly 30 years. Despite the fact that sequels this belated don’t make the most sense under the very best of circumstances, let alone when one features characters who are dead and therefore shouldn’t be aging anymore, there are still plans to get Beetlejuice 2 made with both Michael Keaton and Tim Burton.
Mike Vukadinovich (Rememory) is the latest writer to be handed a copy of The Handbook for the Recently Deceased in an attempt to conjure Beetlejuice 2 into reality. Deadline (who broke the news) claims that both Burton and Keaton are “excited at the thought of collaborating on a sequel.” Of course they are. Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg will produce if this ever actually happens.
There’s no release date set. More news on this as we get it.
