One Change From Cup Final For Gerrard | 4-3-3 Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Young Boys

Rangers will host Young Boys at Ibrox hoping to secure a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League after suffering two back to back setbacks. The first one arrived in the midweek game where they dropped points against Aberdeen after leading by two goals. Then they shot themselves in the foot by losing the League Cup final to Celtic after dominating the game.

It’s fair to say that a failure on Thursday would be disastrous, but Rangers should be positive about getting the job done against the Swiss heavyweights. All four sides are in with a chance to make it out of the group. Rangers only need to avoid defeat to guarantee a place in the next round. Even if they lose, they can make it to the next round if the other result goes their way. Hence, Rangers are firmly in control of their destiny, and they have a good record at home in Europe so far.

Team News: Steven Davis missed the League Cup final due to an injury, and he could be doubtful again. Jordan Jones is still building up his fitness after the long term injury layoff. Apart from that, Gerrard should have everyone available for this crucial clash.

Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Young Boys

Formation (4-3-3)

Defence

Allan McGregor will be expected to keep his place in goal for the Gers. Filip Helander and Connor Goldson quite clearly seem to be the first choice centre back partnership. Hence, we expect Gerrard to persist with them in this tie. Borna Barisic has been impressive at left-back this season, and he should start in his regular position. Rangers will need a big performance from James Tavernier who was behind the two significant errors against Young Boys in the reverse fixture. The captain should start at right-back.

Midfield

Steven Davis will probably miss out, and Glen Kamara could end up playing the deeper role in midfield. Ryan Jack has been the most consistent performer for Rangers this season, and he should start in the middle. Scott Arfield’s tenacity and experience will be necessary for a tie like this, and he could complete the midfield three.

Attack

Greg Stewart has surprisingly been ignored after impressing in little cameos. We believe that he should start on the right flank. Ryan Kent owes a big performance after failing to conjure up much in the League Cup final. He will likely feature on the left side. Gerrard will need to pick Alfredo Morelos up after his nightmarish run with Celtic continued. Hopefully, the Colombian will fire again in this big game against Young Boys.
