Maybe it got lost in the Menz-ail.
Idina Menzel, who made headlines Thursday when Page Six reported one of her superfans spoiled an exclusive VIP party by blabbing the password online, has revealed, in a Broadway-musical-worthy twist, that she wasn’t even invited to the event.
Broadway mogul Jordan Roth and renowned PR maven Rick Miramontez planned the pre-Grammys event — taking place at LA hot spot Tramp Stamp Granny’s, co-owned by Darren Criss — with a “super discreet, speakeasy vibe” in mind. Guests were to recite the password “Mame sent me” — a reference to the musical of the same and likely a tribute to Broadway composer Jerry Herman, who died in December — to gain entry, but after the superfan’s loose lips sunk that ship, the password was ditched in favor of a traditional guest list.
We reported that the event’s initial guest list included Billy Porter, Adrienne Warren, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Anaïs Mitchell, Jeremy Pope and Criss. It’s unclear if Roth and Miramontez have remedied the oversight.
