Singer Lewis Capaldi mistaken for a seat filler at 2020 Grammys

Lewis Capaldi didn’t take home the Grammy for Song of the Year on Sunday night, but a memorable story served as something of a consolation prize.

The “Someone You Loved” crooner revealed on Twitter he was mistaken for a seat filler at the ceremony, which took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“A lady at the grammys has just come up and offered to take my seat because she thought I was one of the people who sits in the chairs to fill them when someone gets up to use the bathroom,” the 23-year-old singer tweeted, adding a slew of laughing crying-face emojis.

He also posted a photo of himself in the bathroom, tweeting, “#GRAMMYs BABY!!!”

Capaldi lost to Billie Eilish, who took home the prize for her single “Bad Guy,” in addition to the awards for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist.
