One of the saddest but least surprising revelations found within Michael Wolff’s book, Fire and Fury, comes from one of then-candidate Trump’s campaign aides who was charged with the task of teaching Donald Trump.

“I got as far as the Fourth Amendment, before his finger is pulling down on his lip and his eyes are rolling back in his head.” Sam Nunberg, that one-time campaign aide was quoted as saying.

Since this president seems regularly shocked and affronted by all of the unorthodox things he isn’t allowed to do, it’s pretty silly to doubt that he understands nothing of the Constitution.

Yet, once the Republican party held its collective nose and agreed to support him as a candidate, it’s pretty obvious they would’ve wanted him to learn. Particularly as he would face-off against none other than Hillary Clinton.

Sadly, it turned out that Donald Trump did not need to know anything in order to become president and was able to scrape through the debates with a combination of gaseous self-praise and ad hominem attacks on Clinton.

Throughout his campaign, Trump assured numerous journalists that he did not really know anything germane to running a country but he was going to learn and (I’m paraphrasing here) become the most bestest knower of how to be a boss-ass president EVER.

But we know that didn’t work out. In total, Trump suffered massive legislative failures in his first two years despite the House and Senate being stacked in his favor.

In fact, the only victory Trump can claim is the “tax cut” bill, which he immediately and stupidly admitted to the press he had misrepresented to the American people to mitigate criticism.

I despair for Sam Nunberg as I’m sure, in time, he would have gotten around to explaining to Trump why threatening the Ninth Circuit by telling them — EVEN IN ALL CAPS — that you’ll see them in court is ill-advised unless part of an SNL sketch.
