Rioting hungry people come voting day.

A failed state.

Well, maybe when the Republicans finally deliver to people the promises they’ve been making, and all the people in the poor red states see their benefits completely disappear…maybe, just maybe, a few of them will wake the fuck up.

It doesn’t have to end at SS. The government can go after private retirement accounts too. Make less then $1 million a year? Younger then 40?

Congrats, your retirement fund’s been “nationalized” to “fix the budget.”

We always hear this. Any politician voting to cut SS and Medicare is aiming to lose their election. Remember Paul Ryan? They would never get this past the house: republicans back to their greatest hits. Here’s an idea: tax the rich at 90% like we did in the fifties.

I’m thinking of starting a site where people can bet on the number of dead and affected from Covid-19 in the US each week and the closest person wins a prize.

All of the money will go towards helping the people worst affected by Covid-19.

It seems to be the only way to get people to pay attention to the numbers.

Biden needs to make ads talking about this and play them on TV in channels that older people tend to watch. Older people tend to vote republican, so this is a perfect wedge issue to get their votes.

I’m betting they gut social security as well as funding for state and local governments. People will have to find work to survive and infection rates will skyrocket. But then they can boast that they got the economy running again ahead of the election and people will fall for it. In the meantime, they are the ship is sinking and are destroying as much as possible.

I mean, this is just shooting themselves in the foot. The GOPs largest bloc is the elderly, and it doesn’t seem smart to tell that bloc you’re going to let them go homeless and starve.

Speaking of Romney, anyone remember when he ran for president in 2012 and told us what he really thinks of 47% of Americans? Full quote: >There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them.… Read more »

The GOP has always wanted that money in their pockets. With their useful idiot, Trump, as a perfect distraction, they can gut the social security system for their personal gain.

Surely this will mostly affect their base? Old, poor people? I guess add utterly ignorant to the description of they are going to lose the SS And *STILL* support republicans. I mean, these people literally cannot afford to live without their SS. So they are willing to die for Trump?

The same people that voted for Trump and still manage to think the virus is a democratic hoax, will also think their shrunken Social Security checks are a democratic hoax. Even after they get them, they’ll find a way to blame anyone but themselves.

If, as is looking increasingly likely, the polls just get grimmer for the GOP, they’re going to try and rush through *so much* shady shit before election day. Not to mention all the cheating they’re going to do. Best of luck America!

My parents retired this past year and when they made a quip about socialism I had to remind them that for the rest of their life them and my brother with Downs syndrome life’s rely on socialist programs. The sure did feel stupid for a few minutes, but I doubt it changed how they feel.

Talk to your parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles about this. Help them realize Trump is not working for them, but is against programs that help them. Trump does *not* support social security. He once went on a rant about “Democrats are going to take your social security! I won’t touch it!”. Later, the White House, the one branch he is completely in charge of, released a budget proposing to cut social security. He has also proposed and implemented tax cuts which reduce the amount of money going into social security. I know talking politics, especially with family, can be tough,… Read more »

If the gop gets reelected in large enough number. It’s the great depression 2.0.
