Spike Lee Defends ‘Fellow Knicks Fan’ Woody Allen Against Cancel Culture

The ‘Da 5 Blood’ director calls Woody Allen a ‘great, great filmmaker’ and comes to his defense as he’s being ‘canceled’ due to sexual misconduct allegations.

Spike Lee has spoken out against calls for his “friend” and “great, great filmmaker” Woody Allen to be blacklisted amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Woody was accused of molestation by his daughter Dylan Farrow and a number of stars that have worked with him over the years have admitted they regret making movies with him.

However, speaking on WOR’s “In the Morning” show, Spike slammed those leading campaigns against his pal, insisting “this cancel thing is not just Woody.”

“When we look back on it we are going to see that – short of killing somebody – I don’t know you just erase someone like they never existed,” he said. “Woody is a friend of mine, a fellow Knicks (New York Knicks, basketball team) fan, and I know he’s going through it right now,” he added.

Spike was on the radio show to promote his new Netflix movie “Da 5 Bloods” – about four Vietnam war veterans who return to the U.S. to search for the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of buried treasure – which is out now.
