The widow of the late NBA legend says ‘it’s been really hard to go online and constantly see pics of our beloved Gigi and Kobe on her social media page.’
Vanessa Bryant has a good reason for blocking Kobe Bryant and Gianna fan pages on social media. In a statement posted on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, June 14, the 38-year-old mother of four explained her decision to block the fan pages is necessary for her and her eldest daughter Natalia’s healing process.
“Thx so much for all the [heart emoji.] @Nataliabryant and I have unfortunately had to block fan pages,” she wrote, “because it’s been really hard to go online and constantly see pics of our beloved Gigi and Kobe under every single square of our explore page.”
She continued, “Blocking the fan pages has helped change the algorithm. We [a heart emoji] you all but please understand that we had to do this for our own healing not because we don’t appreciate your . xo.”

Vanessa’s daughter Natalia echoed her mother’s sentiment on her own Instagram Story post. “Thank you so much for all the love and support. Many of you may have noticed the recent switch to a private account,” she wrote. “My mom and I have had to unfortunately block fan pages because they keep reposting our pics.”
The 17-year-old went on explaining, “This makes it 10x harder to deal with our loss. We hope that people understand that although the fan pages have good intentions, they make moving forward harder since they are constant reminders. Blocking the accounts have helped the algorithm but we can not go public until the fan pages stop. We love all of your sweet intentions and we hope you understand. Always, Natalia.”
While Vanessa has been turning her Instagram page account private, she continues to take to her social media account to remember her late husband and daughter. She recently unveiled her new tattoos on her neck and her wrist in honor of Kobe and Gigi, respectively.
Earlier this month, she also commemorated what would have been Gianna’s 8th graduation. “Congratulations on your 8th grade graduation Gigi. I love you forever and always. I’m so proud of you. Mommy #classof2020,” she wrote on June 8, along with the middle school diploma that was covered in white flowers.
