Harris Faulkner Slams Navy Allegedly Making Religious Exemption for Covid Vaccine Difficult
Harris Faulkner responded to allegations that the Navy has made it difficult for its service members to get a religious exemption to the U.S. Military’s vaccine mandate, calling this difficulty “punitive.”
During her show, The Faulkner Focus, on Wednesday, Mike Berry, general counsel at First Liberty Institute – which, according to its website, “is the largest legal organization in the nation dedicated exclusively to defending religious liberty for all Americans” – responded to a Fox News report that “a growing number of U.S. Navy SEALs who are seeking a religious exemption to the Defense Department’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate are being threatened and, in some cases, harassed into submission.”
“The way that the Navy is going after these SEALs is that they told them that look, even if your religious exemption is approved, we’re going to kick you out the Navy SEAL community and your family members, who are not subject to DOD jurisdiction, they’re not allowed to travel,” Berry told Faulkner. “So your spouse and your children who want to go home for Thanksgiving or Christmas and visit family, they can’t travel.”
“And if your religious exemption is not approved, we’re going to come after you for recruitment of the money spent training you a Navy SEAL, which is upwards of $2 million per individual SEAL,” he continued. “So we’re asking people to help us fight for our warriors.”
Harris remarked, “When you talk out clawing back the specific and specialized training for a Navy SEAL and going after their family, that feels punitive on a host of levels.”
“And by the way, when my dad fought, they prayed before they went into battle,” she continued. “Come on, there’s religious exemptions in there.”
“Exactly, it’s purely vindictive. It’s purely vindictive and really … they’re showing their true colors at the Pentagon,” said Berry. “And I believe that this is nothing more than an ideological purge.”
“Wow,” replied Faulkner.
