One of Trump’s Most Significant Donors Is Suing the Trump 2020 Campaign to Get Back Millions after the “Big Lie”

A major contributor to a group that backed Trump’s efforts to have the presidential election overturned has now filed lawsuit to recover $2.5 million in donations since the campaign failed to prove fraud in any court cases.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas by North Carolina venture capitalist Fred Eshelman.

The claim is that the nonprofit group he supported, True the Vote, had promised to inform him of how his millions of dollars in contributions were being used in what had been sold to him as a strong case against alleged fraud in the recent election.

The suit alleges that instead, he was given “vague responses, platitudes and empty promises of follow-up” that never even happened.

He said he was not informed when the weak cases were filed and then subsequently voluntarily withdrawn in Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

In the Wisconsin case, Republican attorney James Bopp said that “evidence will be shortly forthcoming.” But he then withdrew the case a mere hours before oral arguments were to begin and never provided one ounce of evidence.

Bopp’s resume includes having won the the infamous Citizens United case before the U.S. Supreme Court – a case that opened the pathways for the funneling of dark money into campaigns.

Eshelman became exacerbated with the group and ordered the group via email to immediately wire back the money he had donated. The organization did not and therefore he filed the lawsuit.

Eshelman is a huge Trump backer, having twice donated the max individual contribution allowed to Trump’s campaign and contributed $100,000 to the Trump Victory PAC.

Trump never conceded the presidential election to Joe Biden and he continues his complaints about voter fraud despite not being able to produce any evidence to support the claims. He stated again before he left the White House, “There was massive fraud.” He continues to do so even today.
