Eddie Hearn has jokingly welcomed the prospect of heavyweight legend Mike Tyson training Anthony Joshua.

Hearn and Tyson were among those in attendance as Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez beat Caleb Plant to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday.

In video footage shared by ESNEWS, the Matchroom chief greets the former heavyweight champion.

Boxing journalist Elie Seckbach is then heard asking: ‘Mike, you know what I told him [Hearn] yesterday?

‘I said you should coach Joshua and he agreed, he liked the idea.’

Hearn replied: ‘Of course. He’s been there, he’s seen it, he’s done it all!’

Tyson then laughed and clapped in response with Hearn joking: ‘No sparring though!’

In the weeks that followed his world title defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua has spent time in the US, meeting up with a number of the game’s most respected coaches.

The former champion spent with Eddy Reynoso, Ronnie Shields, Virgil Hunter and Robert Garcia and while Hearn says no final decision has been made yet, he believes Joshua will benefit from moving his next fight camp out of the UK.

‘I was involved in most of the meetings out here [in the USA],’ Hearn told Boxing News.

‘They weren’t interviews, they were just watching, looking around, learning, talking to great minds. I think it was pretty good for him, I think the change of scenery will do him good to be honest with you.

‘He’s been in Sheffield for [11] years. The problem in there is that he’s god. And when you’re God are going to be worked like a dog? That’s sometimes what you need. He works unbelievably hard but everyone does look at him and they’re like, ‘You are God.’

‘You come in here [to an American gym], it is so different. It’s draining for him in the UK. I think it’d really freshen him up out here and I think this is where he should base camp.’
