A private VIP suite is on sale for £1.8 million ($2.5 million) at the Qatar
World Cup as corporate seats are snapped up by wealthy spectators.

One themed luxury hospitality package with prime views of games has already sold out as global firms, executives and millionaires ensure their places at the FIFA games in 2022.

The gold-tinted box offering 44 seats is still on sale, according to a sales list published by MATCH Hospitality, which is FIFA’s exclusive sales agent for the hospitality programme.

Suite number 3079 is available at the Lusail Stadium for a ‘venue series’, which includes six group games, the round of 16, quarter final and final.

The box is the most expensive MATCH private suite available in the list, with prices based on size and location.

The lounges come with a ‘curated five-course sampling menu’ and an in-suite HD television, with direct access to seats directly outside the glass frontages, according to Match Hospitality.

The 80,000-capacity stadium, the biggest in Qatar, is due to host the final, scheduled for December 18, 2022.

Dozens of other corporate boxes have already been sold, the request form shows, amounting to millions of pounds having already been splashed on hospitality at the games a little under a year before the first group stage game on November 21.

One themed VIP package, named the Amazing Series, is already listed as having sold out.

The series is described as an ‘elite collection’ of ‘the most in-demand matches’, amounting to 19 games spread across the best-located suites at the Lusail and Al Bayt stadiums.

Another VIP suite, the Pearl Lounge, includes a dedicated concierge and ‘impeccable service’ and a six-course ‘gastronomic showcase’ with ‘à la carte options, signature dishes and live chef stations’. 

Only available at the Lusail Stadium, the lounge is available from $4,950 (£3,716) for a group match.

Located on the halfway line, it is described as the ‘most luxurious commercial lounge at the FIFA World Cup’.

Qatar’s hospitality offers are attracting interest despite concerns about human rights, including the treatment of workers who built the stadiums.

More than 6,500 are said to have died since the World Cup was awarded a decade ago, according to a report by The Guardian. 

Gay people and women are also said to suffer from discrimination in the wealthy Gulf state, where same-sex relations are illegal.

David Beckham attracted criticism in October after it was reported that he has become an ambassador for the World Cup in a £150 million deal. 

Qatar has said ‘everyone is welcome’ at the games and rainbow flags can be displayed in stadiums.

In May, the authorities took steps to protect the workers from the extreme heat and they say the mortality rate is within the expected range given the workforce size.

A spokesperson for FIFA told Metro.co.uk that ‘hospitality sales are ongoing’ aimed at corporate customers, with general sales due to be announced.

The representative said: ‘We aim to announce the ticket prices for the FIFA World Cup 2022 before the end of this year.’
