Saul Niguez is increasingly frustrated with life at Chelsea and fears his career is stalling at Stamford Bridge.

Since joining the Blues on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid, the midfielder has started just twice in the Premier League.

On both occasions he has been replaced at half-time with Thomas Tuchel explaining his withdrawal on Wednesday against Watford was due to ‘tactical reasons’.

The Chelsea boss later added: ‘I don’t know where he goes from this performance.’

According to The Sun, Saul is happy with life in London has settled into the area well since arriving from Madrid.

But the Spaniard is said to be ‘increasingly fed up’ over his lack of action, feeling he will not be able to adapt to the Premier League without more opportunities than he is currently receiving.

Saul’s only two starting appearances this season have come in the Carabao Cup.

More opportunities could come in the coming weeks however with Tuchel considering using him as a left wing-back, with the Premier League leaders now heavily reliant on Marcos Alonso in that role following Ben Chilwell’s injury.

‘I think that he could play in the wing-back role for us,’ Tuchel said on Friday.

‘Even if we play a dominant game and an offensive game because he’s very strong in arriving in the opponent’s box, very strong in finishing and has good timing to arrive on the second post with his head.

‘We sometimes do this in training, that’s why we have the impression that he could maybe be a good fit.

‘Maybe in the next games we have to try it because Chilly is out long term and a lot of games are coming and we cannot put every game on Marcos’ shoulders.’
