A further 26 cases of the Omicron variant have been reported across the UK, brining the total number to 160.

The Health Security Agency said 25 of the new cases are in England while one is in Scotland.

It comes after 75 new cases were detected yesterday.

Tonight more travel restrictions were announced in a bid to stop the strain spreading.

From Tuesday, anyone arriving into England must take a pre-departure Covid test at least 48 hours before.

Nigeria has also been added to the red travel list, after a number of Omicron cases were linked to travel there.
