The Infamous “War Council” of Trump Supporters Gathered in DC Just One Day Before the January 6th Attack on the US Capitol
As more details emerge about the guest list, it looks like a “war council” gathering at Trump’s “private residence” in DC just a day before the January 6th insurrection could show that some members of Trump’s inner circle anticipated the deadly violence that would erupt.
Not only that, but it could further show that some of those same members incited the Capitol violence or even orchestrated it.
There were approximately 20 people in attendance that evening, of various backgrounds. .
The actual definition of a “war council” is “a meeting between important people to discuss what to do in an emergency or difficult situation.” The January 5 gathering of Trumpists has been called a war council because of A) the social status of the guests – clearly important enough to have been invited into this meeting on the brink of a day of epic historical significance and B) the attendees were all in agreement that on January 5, the US was in an “emergency or difficult situation” and they professed this privately and publicly.
Keep reading for a closer look at this group’s members.
Daniel Beck made multiple social media posts after the insurrection in which he showed full support for the violence but there is no evidence that he had any part in the planning of the events of the day. Some believe that his mere presence at the meeting qualifies him as someone who should be investigated by the FBI.
Charles Herbster falls under the same category as Beck, with no evidence that he incited or planned violence but rather that he might have some knowledge of the events.
There is a clear distinction, however, with meeting attendees Michael Flynn, Ali Alexander, and Donald Trump Jr., who WITHOUT DOUBT both incited and enabled the violence at the Capitol.
Eric Trump and Peter Navarro, while not necessarily inciting violence, definitely enabled the insurrectionists.
There were three members of Congress in attendance at the meeting. The only one whose identity we actually know, Tommy Tuberville, helped coordinate the horrific events of January 6 with his involvement in the contesting electors as a tactic to delay the certification. Tuberville’s actions gave the angry insurrectionists more time to stage its attack.
It is unknown if Senator Ted Cruz of Texas was present, he could be accused of inciting the events based on the speeches he gave in the days leading up to January 6th.
Corey Lewandowski was present that day but it is unclear what role he might have played. What IS clear is his past actions and his obsessive devotion to Trump.
Adam Piper is the former executive director of the Republican Attorneys General Association and could be viewed by some as having gone so far as to coordinate some of the events of the day of January 6, including authorizing emails and robocalls encouraging people to come march on on the Capitol.
One map that was distributed to attendees of the march on the Capitol guided participants to “take to the U.S. Capitol lawn and steps” on January 6. Their goals were to halt the certification process, to “stop the steal,” and to “take back America” – using militaristic action.
The literature that was sent out insinuated that Trump wanted to see everyone at the Capitol and would even described exactly WHERE he wanted the Trumpists to march- the Capitol “building.” Not even AROUND the building but INTO the building.
Other meeting attendees included Rudy Giuliani, Michael Lindell, and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Giuliani clearly incited the armed mob of protestors and was directly involved in every detail and all the President’s decisions on that fateful day.
Guilfoyle is known to have spoken directly with Ali Alexander, the most violent of the insurrectionists involved and just 36 hours before the siege, she began a speech in Georgia saying, “Where my soldiers at?”
It’s still unclear, however, if all the attendees are known- and if perhaps the president himself was one of them.
Photos from social media show that Doyle Beck, Daniel Beck’s father, could have also attended the January 5 meeting. In one picture, Daniel captioned and referenced a “we”/“us” who “talked [with Trump family members, advisers, and Congressional allies] about elections, illegal votes, court cases, the republics’ [sic] status, [and] what to expect on the hill [sic] tomorrow.”
Those who were in attendance of the January 5 war council have a pretty rough track record in what they are willing to admit about their participation, with several having known to have lied about attendance and others refusing to speak to the press.
Alex Jones had been asked to lead the march, said “yes,” then ended up as just part of the crowd who did not enter the Capitol building itself.
Wealthy Texas businessman and Trump supporter Bubba Saulsbury, whose company sells itself as a “a full-service engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company,” posted to Facebook just 48 hours before the insurrection that he was boarding a flight to DC. He added, “Let the craziness begin!”
Then on January 5, Saulsbury, whose family is among the biggest Trump donors in the country, boasted about having “the honor and privilege of attending dinner…with a very small group with Vice President Pence at the VP Residence.”
After that “very small group” with Mike Pence, hardly the “craziness” Saulsbury promised, he headed BACK to Texas.
He added, “Unfortunately I have a prior obligation and will not be able to stay for the festivities over the next two days. For all of you supporters attending the events, while I won’t be there physically I assure you I will be there in spirit!!!!!!!!!!!”
Something at that meeting seems to have caused Saulsbury to get OUT of DC. The same is true for many other folks who had previously encouraged, incited, or even planned the deadly march- they fled DC rather than staying to participate. What did they – INCLUDING TRUMP – know about what was coming??
