‘Testy’ Smollett Plays Ridiculous ‘It’s Not Fair’ Card in Second Day of Testimony – RedState

Listen, I’m sick of it, too. The whole slimy Jussie Smollett story. I was sick of it within 48 hours of the ridiculous story first breaking that the former “Empire” actor was attacked in Chicago in January 2019.

But, like a horrible car wreck, we keep watching — and not for entirely different reasons.

The guy is an unmitigated disaster, with a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas, who got so far into this silly farce that he decided to go all the way. For broke. I don’t know if he’ll end up “broke-broke,” but a director or production company would have to be insane to get anywhere near Smollett, ever again.

So, Smollett finished his testimony on Tuesday, at times getting testy with special prosecutor Dan Webb, being rebuked by the judge, and even seemingly getting lost in a question he was asked by Webb. It was not a good day for “Juicy Smooyay” — as hilariously dubbed by comedian Dave Chappelle — at all.

Bottom line: It was even more ridiculous than his testimony on Monday.

As reported by The New York Post, the prosecution grilled Smollett for another two-and-a-half hours on Tuesday, with closing arguments and possible jury deliberation on Wednesday.

Smollett, 39, lost his cool and got testy when questioned by special prosecutor Dan Webb about some of his private messages on Instagram with Abimbola “Bola” Osundairo, one of the two brothers he allegedly paid to orchestrate the hoax in January 2019.

Prosecutors claim Smollett was alerting Osundairo that the actor’s plane would be late getting into Chicago from New York City so that the siblings could better time out the attack, while the defense says it was simply a case of Smollett letting his workout partner know he’d be tardy for their next session.

Smollett became furious when Webb read aloud one of the actor’s messages that included the N-word and didn’t try to censor it for the court.

“Sir, can you just spell the word or not say it out of respect for every African American in this room?”, Smollett demanded.

Why? You said it, Juicy, apparently with a grin on your smug face, as transcribed by The Post. “N—a finally made it just landed haha,” Smollett wrote to Osundairo.

Smollett admitted that he initially told police his pretend attackers were white but changed his story later to say they were “pale” because it was the “responsible” thing to do. Oh, please, dude. “Responsible.”

I didn’t want to make the assumption that they were white. So I said, ‘Let me change that and just say that they were pale-skinned.’ They could’ve been a white person, they could have been a pale someone else.

The cross-examination took a bizarre turn when Smollett lost his crap with the prosecutor over how Instagram works, ridiculously suggesting that was the problem at one point:

You’re misrepresenting me to the jury and to the entire court, and it’s not fair. Without showing the actual Insta stories that I posted, they’re not getting the full story so they don’t understand.

Ah, the vaunted “It’s not fair” defense.

It didn’t work in the least. Webb fired back:

Look at me. I’m older. I tell you right now I do not understand Instagram. […] I’m asking you if the messages I’m about to show you are between Bola and you.

Judge James Linn jumped in and chided Smollett, as well: “Just answer his questions without arguing.”

Smollett’s entire Tuesday testimony was peppered with nonsensical bits of silliness, including:

There was no fake attack. […] There was an update to my over 5 million followers.

It’s difficult to answer yes and no when little bits are thrown in there that aren’t true … when some things are true, and some aren’t, it’s hard to say yes or no.

There are also no messages about an attack, yet I’m on trial for an attack I didn’t do.

And so it went. Smollett faces six felony counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to police, and if convicted, he faces up to three years in jail. I’ll go out on a limb and guess he’d get probation and community service, at worst.
