Trump Takes a Shot at Republicans Who Backed Out of NRA Event

Guns are big business in Texas. So it is no surprise that the National Rifle Association decided to hold its annual Leadership Forum in the state. But after children were massacred there earlier this week, many Republicans chose to drop out of the event. This list included Dan Crenshaw, John Cornyn, and Governor Greg Abbott.

While keeping the engagement seemed somewhat ghoulish, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz were willing to do it. Trump even went as far as to chide those who decided to cancel.

Trump told the wildly cheering crowd, “I’m honored to be here in the great state of Texas with the wonderful patriots of the NRA. And unlike some, I did not disappoint you by not showing up. You gotta show up.”

During the event, Trump and Cruz both did everything they could to defend assault rifles. The men both went on nonsensical rants about doors and ‘good guys with guns.’
