Senator Released Memo that Suggests Official Trump Policy Was to Intentionally ‘Traumatize Children” and Create Full-Blown Humanitarian Crisis
Senator Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) dropped a bombshell when he released a draft plan to NBC News revealing that the former President and his administration PLANNED to “traumatize children and intentionally create a humanitarian crisis at the border”.
The memo is dated from 2017 when border crossings were actually at a much lower rate than they had been the year before yet the title is written with typical Trump exaggeration flair- “Policy Options to Respond to Border Surge of Illegal Immigration.”
The draft memo was given to Senator Merkley from a government whistleblower and he then released it to NBC News. Merkley took to Twitter to respond in outrage against such a conniving and intentional move.
.@realDonaldTrump’s child immigration strategy is immoral and comes from a dark place in the heart of this administration. Children are NOT expendable commodities in political battles.— Jeff Merkley (@JeffMerkley) January 18, 2019
In addition to the horrifying notion presented by Trump and his flunkies is also the fact that his Secretary of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen lied to the House Judiciary Committee when she appeared before them to report on the border separations and is on record as saying, “We’ve never had a policy for family separation.”.
“This document shows Trump Administration staffers plotting to create a humanitarian crisis at the border—criminalizing the search for asylum, tearing children from their parents’ arms, and expanding the lock-up of both parents and children.”
Senatory Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.)
Merkley is not willing to let this issue drop, calling out Republicans for what he sees not as partisan politics but as a failure to uphold a moral obligation for the care and concern for CHILDREN.
