Trump Ring-Kissing Sessions Move North As Conservative GOP Group Visits Bedminster

In the six months since he left office, twice-impeached one-term former president Donald Trump has met with a steady stream of Republicans eager to stay in the retiree’s good graces. Visitors to the Mar-a-Lago estate for ring-kissing sessions make it clear that Trump, even in defeat, remains the de facto leader of the GOP and its most prominent force.

On Thursday, having relocated north a few weeks ago to escape the brutal Florida summer heat, Trump was paid a visit by Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and nine other members of the conservative caucus at his Bedminster, N.J. golf club. Banks told the New York Post that the meeting was intended to present Trump with the group’s policy vision, which he said is modeled after Trump’s agenda, and lay out plans for Republicans to regain the majority in the House of Representatives in next year’s midterm elections.

“We spent nearly two hours with the President, with President Trump, who’s in great spirits. We talked for most of the time about the work that the Republican Study Committee is doing to define the agenda for the future course of the Republican Party, which is fighting for the Trump agenda,” Banks said. “We talked about our election integrity bill, The Save Democracy Act, which he was very supportive of and we talked about what we’ve done to define immigration moving forward.”

One source in the room told The Post that Trump referred to the Indiana Republican as the “new type of leader we need in the party.”

“We believe we take back the majority by focusing on the Trump agenda, and President Trump plays a big role in that,” Banks  said. “He’s obviously planning to go out and hit the road and campaign for candidates who share our vision, and we were excited to talk to him about that.”
