Donald Trump Expertly Trolls Joe Biden and Kamala Harris With Big Announcement on Border Visit Plans – RedState

The Biden administration has faced a tidal wave of legitimate criticisms from Republicans and even some Democrats and mainstream media journalists over Vice President Kamala Harris’ continued sidestepping of questions on when exactly she plans on visiting the southern border.

Her much-touted trip to the Northern Triangle last week was a disaster, with Harris at times looking unexplainably defensive and hostile with reporters who gently asked her the question that she never would directly answer (outside of that time she lied about visiting the border).

Seeing as we’re closing in on the three-month anniversary of President Biden first putting Harris in charge of dealing with the border crisis, and seeing that so far neither Biden nor Harris has given any indication as to when they might make the trip down south, former President Trump announced this evening that he has accepted an invitation from a frustrated Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to join him in visiting the Texas/Mexico border.

“I have accepted the invitation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott to join him on an official visit to our Nation’s decimated Southern Border on Wednesday, June 30, 2021,” the statement from Trump read.

After noting that “mere weeks” after Biden was inaugurated he reversed Trump’s border control policies and “turned it into the single worst border crisis in U.S. history,” Trump then took repeated jabs at both Biden and Harris over their continued refusals at committing to traveling to the area.

“If this weren’t bad enough, Biden and Harris won’t even tour the scenes of the wreckage they created, or come down and visit with the Border Patrol and ICE heroes risking their lives to defend our Nation at a time when the White House is doing everything it can to make their job totally impossible,” he continued.

“What Biden and Harris have done, and are continuing to do on our border,” Trump stated, “is a grave and willful dereliction of duty.”

He concluded by suggesting that his “visit will hopefully shine a spotlight on these crimes against our Nation — and show the incredible people of ICE and Border Patrol that they have our unshakeable support.”

Trump’s announcement comes just days after Gov. Abbott told Fox News that his state planned on resuming construction of the Trump border wall that Biden put a stop to his first day in office.

“I’ve been down here talking to the people in the Rio Grande Valley,” Abbott told host Laura Ingraham last Thursday. “And the way they are being overrun is reprehensible, it’s disastrous what the Biden administration has done.”

Pointing out Harris’ treating questions about visiting the border like a “joke” at times, Abbott hammered home how what was happening on the southern edge of his state wasn’t funny in any way.

“But we are not taking it as a joke in Texas,” he said. “We are going to step up and respond the way we must respond to secure the sovereignty our state, to prevent the invasion that’s taken place in front of our very own eyes.”

One thing’s for certain: There’s no better way for Abbott to raise attention to the situation than bringing in the star power of Trump, as border security was one of his signature issues.

Abbott’s declaration about resuming construction of the border wall and Trump’s announcement today about accepting the invite is going to sting the Biden administration quite a bit, and deservedly so. Their undoing of the policies Trump had in place to combat potential population surges directly led to the humanitarian issues we’re seeing there today.

As Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) so eloquently put it last week, “Kamala Harris didn’t have to go all the way to Guatemala and Mexico to find the root causes of this border crisis because they’re not there. The root causes are in the White House.”
