Ron DeSantis Shows What Leadership Looks Like on the Border Crisis as Biden Bumbles on World Stage – RedState
As President Biden continues to embarrass the United States on the world stage, back here at home Republican leaders are stepping up to the plate to fill the massive void left by the Biden administration’s abject failure to effectively deal with the worsening crisis at the southern border.
For instance, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared last week his state’s plans to resume building former President Trump’s border wall, something that was halted on President Biden’s first day in office. And just yesterday, Trump announced he had accepted an invitation from a frustrated Abbott to join him in visiting the Texas/Mexico border, a visit that will take place on June 30th and which will no doubt further raise awareness nationally as to what’s happening.
A few days ago, Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey wrote a letter to all governors asking them for help from law enforcement at a time when local resources in their respective states are strained to the max because of the massive migrant surge and insufficient amounts of federal help and coordination:
The # of illegal border crossings this fiscal year is already the most since 2006. This is a crisis, our law enforcement professionals need help.

In response to their letter, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced today that his state would be the first to “answer the call,” because not only was it a good move that would help Floridians but also because it would help the country.
“These states have sent Florida support when we responded to emergencies here in our state,” DeSantis pointed out, “and they wanted support so that they could do what the federal government is either unwilling or unable to do — secure the border and protect the people, not just of their states but of the entire country because of the nationwide impact that has.”
He also made sure to emphasize the reason why aid was being requested from Abbott and Ducey. “Where the federal government has failed, the states are stepping up and doing our best to fill the void.”
“It is really frustrating though that this was a created crisis,” he suggested. “This was a crisis created by going against policies that had been working just because you don’t like your predecessors.”

Big talkers like to try and talk a big game, while real leaders actually walk the walk and lead. Between Biden and DeSantis, I don’t think it’s necessary for me to spell out which one is which at this point.
