Patrick Beverley really can’t stand the Phoenix Suns players, he often shoves them from the back in vindictive manner. Back in June, 2021. Patrick Beverley was still playing for the LA Clippers and he played against the Phoenix Suns. It all happened during Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals between both sides that the Clippers ended up losing. Beverley simply couldn’t keep his cool with Paul and just shoved him violently from the back.
A move that nearly ended in a massive brawl between both teams but the refs were still able to prevent. After that, Beverley moved to Minnesota and eventually landed back in Los Angeles. From his repeated offense against Phoenix Suns players such as Deandre Ayton during a regular season game this week. It’s easy to tell Patrick Beverley really doesn’t like the Suns players. It was yet another major moment that perfectly defines this player’s personality.
Why did Patrick Beverley shove Ayton?
On the replay, you can see big man Deandre Ayton getting stepped over Pat Bev’s teammate, Austin Reaves. Anthony Davis approached Ayton but he stood his ground, then Beverley appeared out of nowhere to violently shove the Suns player out of the way. This resulted in many players and fans getting riled up but the incident was settled right there as Pat got kicked out of the game. In the ref’s notes, he says Beverley ‘forcefully shoved’ Deandre Ayton.
But looking at the replay, it does look like a violent shove. The NBA reached a decision on Thursday about Patrick Beverley’s actions, they handed him a 3-game suspension. This will get Patrick Beverley to miss a couple of away Lakers games against the San Antonio Spurs. Also, he will miss a home game against the Indiana Pacers. But the biggest takeaway from the entire incident was the statement from Devin Booker, who wasn’t happy with Pat Bev: “[Patrick] needs to stop pushing people in the back. Push them in the chest. That’s all I’ve got to say.”
